In Micheal Singer’s book, The Untethered Soul, he discusses the ongoing internal dialogue that is perpetually swirling in our minds. Our thoughts continue incessantly, often on autopilot, frequently repeating the same internal conversations, reliving the same experiences and emotions over and over. Many people will never find the time to step back and observe the continuous waterfall of thoughts flowing through their minds. The failure to do so ultimately restricts them from completely experiencing everything life offers. One main theme of meditation is the ability to step back and observe our thoughts, which, with time, can help us gain control, transforming them into positive and empowering dialogues. Obtaining the capacity to consciously decide what thoughts to let occupy your mind is a truly grounding experience.
